Overview

The Flame New Bern, North Carolina's best known and most sought after catering company. From signature weddings to Sunday brunch, The Flame Catering creates unforgettable events for their clients by expertly providing not only food artistry and custom catering, but also the event space and decor.

They needed a website that was distinctive and that showed people the level of care and attention to detail that makes a caterer like The Flame great. 

Process

We never pass up an opportunity to visit the tar heel state, and we loved New Bern, the coastal region and meeting Chef Smoke and the entire Flame staff. More importantly, we got to tour with Chef around the New Bern and see his in his element: making magic with the community.  Understanding the venue and the market, we got a much better sense of how to present a smaller inner banks caterer with a big personality. 

The Flame needed as distinctive of a look as they are a personality.  While the site was designed in 2013, the skeuomorphic design with extra textures and shadowing adds to the brand and gives the site a charm that's uncommon especially today. Food photography is vital for catering sites, so we helped Chef find the right camera and trained his staff to be able to produce food photos that stand out. Adding photos to inspiration galleries can help brides and their families get a sense of what kind of wedding catering they want to have and how the catering is such an integral part to the experience. 

Service

We pride ourselves on making websites that stand up over time, and that are easy to upgrade or add features over time. Our content management system was easy before, but the newest tools make updating a site much easier, and easy updates are the way to get new content to shine on a site. We fully upgraded the site in 2019 to include more mobile features and to clean up some of the usual tech entropy, a cost effective way to keep a website strong for years to come.
